Meet Optimal Safety Inspections — and the trainers who make safety stick.

Real-world experience. Down-to-earth teaching.
Training your team will actually remember.

A safety team built
on real experience

Optimal Safety Inspections is made up of trainers and safety professionals who’ve spent years working in environments where safety isn’t optional — manufacturing floors, fire services, public-facing facilities, and fast-moving operations. We’ve seen what happens when teams understand safety … and when they don’t. Our commitment extends beyond the workplace — including how we give back to the communities we serve.

At Optimal Safety Inspections, we take a different approach:

  • No lectures.

  • No scare tactics.

  • No “check-the-box” training.

  • Just practical, engaging safety education your team can use tomorrow, grounded in real people and real work.

Safety training doesn’t have to be boring.

Most people tune out because training feels disconnected from their actual work. OSI instructors use stories, demonstrations, humor, and real-world examples — customized to your business — to make concepts stick. Your team stays involved and retention goes way up.

Engaging

Sessions that feel human and interactive.

Practical

Real scenarios, real equipment, real solutions.

Approachable

No judgment. No buzzwords. Just clarity.

The work that set his standard

In graduate school, Justin designed the first safety management system ever implemented in a Merrimack, N.H., child-care center. He built an ergonomic lifting program, launched their first near-miss reporting system, started a safety committee, and cut the center’s OSHA injury rate from 3.2 to just 0.086 — essentially eliminating recordable injuries.

The project didn’t just earn recognition — it shaped a core belief he still teaches today: When people feel heard, supported, and empowered, safety becomes natural — not forced.

Driven in work and in life

Beyond OSI, Justin is a father, former boxer, youth baseball coach, and endurance athlete. Earlier this year, he completed a north-to-south run across the entire state of New Hampshire — the same grit and focus he brings to every training room, every job site, and every client relationship.

Today, he leads Optimal Safety with one goal: to make workplaces safer, smarter, and more confident — one team at a time.

Meet Justin Deflumeri, MS, GSP

Justin became fascinated with safety in college, when he realized how many workplace injuries were preventable — and that spark never went away. He values safety because it gives him the opportunity to enter a space, look ahead, and take proactive steps that keep people protected.

Justin went on to earn a master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety from Keene State College, becoming the first and only person in school history to receive all three of its top honors: Safety Professional of the Year, the Alumni Inspiration Award, and the National Safety Council Rising Star of Safety Award. He later completed the Graduate Safety Practitioner credential and contributed to research on indoor environmental quality, sick building syndrome, heat stress, and practical approaches to risk and behavior.

Before founding Optimal Safety Inspections (OSI) in 2020, Justin spent years in manufacturing, fire services, business-to-business training, and multi-site EHS leadership as a Director of EH&S and Training for a regional company — overseeing compliance, culture, and safety programs across multiple facilities.

Justin also speaks nationally on safety leadership and culture. And in 2025, he completed a record-breaking run across the entire length of New Hampshire, bringing the same grit, discipline, and endurance to the trail that he brings to every workplace he supports.

A hands-on trainer who actually keeps people awake

While Justin leads OSI’s approach, every trainer on the team is held to the same standard — real experience, real preparation, and real connection. They all teach the way people learn best:

  • Real-world examples

  • No corporate technical talk

  • Humor when you need it

  • Clear steps when it matters

  • Hands-on demos instead of lectures

That’s why our training sticks — and why teams who once dreaded OSHA courses walk away saying they actually enjoyed the experience.

Meet the Rest of the Team

Justin’s the face you’ll see in most trainings — but OSI is powered by a growing network of safety professionals, field trainers, and support staff who share the same goal: making safety memorable, practical, and people-centered.
